70% of matches on dating apps never get a first message. People match. They open the chat. They stare at the screen. They close the app.

We're DateSmarter, the dating app that makes your conversations smarter, with AI coaching built right into the chat. Three modes (Stuck?, Witty Reply, Deep Question), one tap, your words. We don't write your messages. We help you find them.

Built in Auckland by Sergio and Hector, we're launching in July 2026. We're looking for someone who wants to join the journey and help get DateSmarter out into the world.

The role

You'll own marketing end-to-end. Not “support marketing”. Not “execute the strategy”. Own it. That means:

• Building DateSmarter from “people don't know we exist” to “the dating app everyone's talking about in Auckland”.
• Making viral content, TikTok, Reels, LinkedIn, Medium. Hooks that stop the scroll. Visuals that don't look like a stock photo.
• Working directly with the co-founders. Small team.

Who you are

• Fun, creative, up for a challenge.
• You've worked in marketing, content or social long enough to know what works, and you're keen to help build a New Zealand startup success story.
• You can write a hook AND film a Reel AND edit it AND post it AND look at the analytics AND adjust.
• You're in NZ (Auckland a bonus, anywhere works).

The honest bit on money

We want to be straight with you up front.

This is not a paid role right now. Both founders are working without a salary while we get DateSmarter off the ground, and we'd rather be honest about that than dress it up.

As the company grows, there may be an opportunity for this to become paid in future. We can't promise that and it isn't guaranteed, but it's the direction we're working towards and something we'd be glad to talk through as things develop.

This is a chance to help build something from the start, with real creative freedom. If you're excited to build a brand from zero, we'd love to hear from you.
