Member principles

DateSmarter works because people show up as their real selves. These are the principles every member signs up to, short, human, and the foundation of a community worth being part of.

What we're all here for

Six principles. One good community

You're a capable adult looking for something real. So is everyone else here. These principles keep it that way.

Be real

Your photos, your age, your words. The person you text should be the same person who walks through the door.

Be kind

Treat people the way you'd want a friend treated. A “no” is a full sentence, respect it, every time.

You always press send

Our AI offers ideas; you decide. The words you send are yours, and so is the responsibility for them.

Keep it consensual

No harassment, no pressure, no unsolicited explicit content. Enthusiastic consent is the only kind that counts.

Protect privacy

What's shared in a chat stays there. Don't screenshot, forward or post someone else's photos, messages or details without consent.

Speak up

If something feels off, report it. A quick tap helps us keep this a place people actually want to be.

Where the line is

Not welcome here

To protect everyone, some things simply aren't allowed on DateSmarter:

If a line gets crossed

What happens next

We review every report. Depending on what's happened, we'll take the right step, and for serious harm, we go straight to the strongest one.

1 A heads-up

For minor, first-time issues we may warn you and ask you to stop, and remove anything that breaks the rules.

2 A pause

We may suspend an account while we look into it. You'll be told what's happening and why.

3 A permanent ban

For serious or repeated harm, the account is removed for good, and serious or criminal conduct is reported to the authorities.

The full detail lives in our Terms of Service. These principles sit alongside them, think of this page as the spirit, and the Terms as the letter.

When the match finally meets in person, the person they've been talking to is exactly who shows up. That's the whole point, and it only works if we all keep it real.
