How does the AI coaching work?

When conversation feels difficult, our AI helps you respond authentically—based on your style and the person you are talking to.

This feature is available to everyone using DateSmarter. You stay in control—we just help you find the right words when you need them.

When will the app be available?

We're in beta now on iOS and Android, with our public launch planned for July 2026.

Do I need to be tech-savvy to use it?

Not at all. If you can swipe and text, you can use DateSmarter.

The app is designed to feel natural. Help appears right when you need it.

What makes DateSmarter different from other dating apps?

Most dating apps help you find matches, then leave you on your own for the hardest part: actually connecting.

DateSmarter is built specifically to help you at that moment—when you're stuck, anxious, or unsure what to say.

We're built around the conversation, not just the swipe.

Why not just use ChatGPT?

ChatGPT can write you a reply. DateSmarter does something different.

It sits inside the chat, reads the actual conversation and the other person's profile, and suggests different ways the conversation could go, in your own voice. No copying and pasting, no explaining the context each time. The suggestion fits the moment you're actually in.

Will I sound like everyone else?

No. Suggestions are shaped by your style and the specific conversation, and they come as different approaches rather than one "best" reply.

You choose, edit, or ignore. You always press send, so the words stay yours.

How does Discover work?

Instead of only swiping, you can describe the kind of person you're hoping to meet in plain words, like "creative, loves live music".

DateSmarter highlights the people who fit, and tells you why. It's another way to find people, alongside swiping.

Does it help after the first date?

For now, DateSmarter focuses on the part most apps ignore: turning a match into a real conversation, and a conversation into a first date.

Helping beyond that is on our roadmap, and early members help shape what comes next.

Does DateSmarter work with other dating apps?

No. DateSmarter is a complete dating app.

Everything happens in one place: match, chat, and get support when you need it. No switching apps or copying/pasting.

Is my data private and secure?

Absolutely. We use enterprise-grade encryption to protect all your data.

Your conversations are never shared with other members or sold. To power AI suggestions, conversation context is processed securely by our AI provider (AWS / Anthropic) and is never used to train public AI models. You keep complete control over your information.

Privacy is our top priority.

We comply with:

  • New Zealand Privacy Act 2020
  • GDPR (for EU users)
  • Australian Privacy Principles (for AU users)
What happens to my data if I delete my account?

When you delete your account, your data is permanently removed:

  • Profile and photos
  • Messages and conversations
  • AI coaching data
  • Match history

You can request deletion anytime through Settings → Account → Delete Account.

We comply with GDPR and Privacy Act 2020 requirements.

Can I use DateSmarter anonymously?

You control what you share.

Required information:

  • First name (can be a nickname)
  • Age range
  • City-level location
  • Photos

Optional information:

  • Last name
  • Social media links
  • Workplace
  • Phone number
  • Your privacy settings control who sees your profile.
What if the AI gives bad advice?

You're always in control.

DateSmarter provides suggestions—you decide what to send (or not send).

If a suggestion doesn't feel like you, ignore it and write your own message. The AI adapts to your style over time, but you always have the final say.

How does DateSmarter handle inappropriate content?

We take safety seriously.

DateSmarter has:

  • Content moderation systems
  • User reporting tools
  • Zero-tolerance for harassment
  • AI guardrails to prevent inappropriate suggestions

You can block and report anyone who makes you uncomfortable.

Does the AI actually understand my conversations?

Our AI analyses:

  • Conversation context and tone
  • Your communication style
  • The other person's profile and interests
  • Conversation stage (opening, building rapport, planning dates)

However, AI has limitations:

  • May occasionally misinterpret context or sarcasm
  • Cannot fully understand complex emotions
  • Might miss cultural or contextual nuances
  • You should always review suggestions before using them. ​
How much will it cost?

DateSmarter has four plans, so you only pay for what helps:

  • Free — swipe, match and message, with a daily taste of AI coaching.
  • Pro — 300 AI Suggestions a month, 20 likes a day, see who liked you, plus advanced filters and Discover.
  • Pro+ — everything in Pro, 500 AI Suggestions a month and unlimited likes.
  • Gold+ — everything in Pro+, our highest monthly allowance of AI Suggestions and priority access to new features.

Prices are set per region by the App Store and Google Play, so you'll always see your exact local price before you confirm. See Manage Subscription for the full breakdown.

Is there a free version?

Yes. You can use DateSmarter free, match, message and get a daily taste of AI coaching.

Upgrade to Pro, Pro+ or Gold+ only if and when more suggestions or reach would help.

Can I cancel my subscription anytime?

Yes. You can cancel anytime through Settings → Subscription → Cancel.

When you cancel:

You retain access until the end of your billing period

  • No refunds for partial months
  • You can resubscribe later

Does DateSmarter support LGBTQ+ users?

Yes. DateSmarter is for everyone.

You can:

  • Set your gender identity
  • Set your sexual orientation
  • Choose your preferences

Our AI coaching is inclusive and respectful of all identities.

What languages does DateSmarter support?

DateSmarter launches in English.

We're exploring additional languages based on user demand. Join the waitlist and let us know what languages you'd like to see.

Can I use DateSmarter for long-distance relationships?

Yes. DateSmarter works wherever you are.

You can:

  • Adjust your distance preferences
  • Match with people in other cities

What devices does DateSmarter work on?

Both iOS and Android. DateSmarter is in live beta on iPhone and Android now, with our public launch planned for July 2026.
