A guide to DateSmarter/Billing and payment
All DateSmarter subscriptions are billed by Apple or Google, not by us. That means we cannot see your card details, and it means changes and cancellations happen in your app store account rather than in DateSmarter.
1Accepted payment methods+
Whatever your app store accepts. On iPhone that is the payment method on your Apple account, and on Android the one on your Google account.
We never see or store your card details.
To change how you pay, update the payment method on your Apple or Google account. There is nothing to change inside DateSmarter.
2Upgrade or change your plan+
Open Settings → Subscription and choose the plan you want. Your app store handles the change and adjusts what you pay.
Upgrades usually take effect immediately. Downgrades usually take effect at the end of the period you have already paid for.
3Restoring purchases+
Changed phone, or reinstalled the app, and your subscription is missing? Restore it.
- Sign in with the same Apple or Google account you bought it on.
- Open Settings → Subscription.
- Choose Restore purchases.
If it still does not appear, it is almost always because the purchase sits on a different store account. Check which account you are signed in with, then contact us if it is still wrong.
4Cancel your subscription+
Cancel through your app store, not through DateSmarter.
iPhone and iPad
Open Settings on your device, tap your name, then Subscriptions, choose DateSmarter and cancel.
Android
Open the Google Play app, tap your profile picture, then Payments and subscriptions → Subscriptions, choose DateSmarter and cancel.
Cancelling stops future payments. You keep the paid features until the end of the period you have already paid for. Deleting the app does not cancel anything.
There is more detail, including refunds, on Manage subscription and Refunds.
5Subscription billing issues+
Charged twice, charged after cancelling, or a payment failed?
Because Apple and Google take the payment, they hold the billing record and they issue refunds. Start with them, using the receipt in your email.
If something looks wrong on our side, such as a plan not unlocking after a successful payment, contact us with the date and the store you paid through and we will look into it.
